Reading PDF files on your own PSP

Hurm a few whiles ago i jotted down things that a PSP must have and one of em is a PDF reader and how you could read your PDF files.

Least but not last, this project is started by an anonymous programmer in Japan which is sadly remain anonymous until the end.

Requirements:

1. A firmware that can run homebrew software e;g 3.51, 3.52 m33 . .3.4 OE and all those hack firmware . This guide will not talk about how you can upgrade your firmware as i assume you already knew what to do.
2. You must set your homebrew running firmware to 1.5.

Now the fun part is the software :)

Follow the instruction .. and good luck some youtubes

Fakap Day

It annoys me when suddenly during the day when

nslookup www.google.com.my
;; Warning: ID mismatch: expected ID 12640, got 55838
;; Warning: ID mismatch: expected ID 12640, got 57943
;; Warning: ID mismatch: expected ID 12640, got 60100
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

The dns goes down delaying all my updates to my server and works T_T. I guess it's true a geek without the net is like a body without a soul. Since there' s nothing much to be done i just explore around my Gutsy Gibbon and to my surprise the when i run 'hp-setup' i expect it to me a terminal apps however it turn out to be Gui interface .

Well me and ben are planning something big in this two months hehe. Stay tune and watch out.

Gnome-Mplayer ? A nice mplayer front-end

mplayer is well known to be the swiss army of Linux Media Player. Leaving the issues the library that it use to lay is GPL/LGPL or not. It;s the best media player so far as i concern. (Heck where else can you find a media player that let you -dumpaudio/-dumpmovie so easily?) However unlike most of the minority (most newbies to linux fear the command line ) thus born the front-end for mplayer (call gmplayer = gtk front-end + mplayer)

But i have to admit it's terribly ugly by default. Even with good themes why the heck the video layer is and the control bar is splited in the first place? So thus somebody does a good job making a gnome-mplayer ( An mplayer front-end that gives similliar interface to Media Player Classic". It's simple , easy to use and nice.

What makes this software good is it used a rich API that is exposed via DBUS.

FOSS Promotion during edx 2007

Sigh finally i have some moment to jote down everything that happens for the past few weeks. With the upcoming final exams. Test and exams, assigment need to be submitted, i could hardly breath.

Anyway during last Wednesday and Thursday the UTP-OSS in conjuction in syntech managed to open our FOSS booth at the UTP EDX 2007. (in case u r wondering EDX is engineering exhibition).

As usual we me and kagesenshi rigs and box are bring on to display the latest Fedora 7 and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. While Kagesenshi explain the essential and why we should use FOSS Software i took my time to explain how software bugs are found and some classsical example of a b0f attack using Gera's law and Izik Paper (under DVL VM and Ubuntu 6.06 VM).

Well we did managed to attract some crowd who are curious. However the future of FOSS is still cloudy inside my campus.. (yeah i believe only 3-4 students who are on Linux 24/7 all the time ) . sigh.

Yehaa It`s PSP time.

Finally i`ve found something to spend my late winning prizes of Uitm Ihack.. Purchasing a 2nd PSP from gomok yesterday. It comes with 4gb Memory Stick and several games begs .etc, etc for just mere rm500. The firmware have been brewed off so it's kinda cool to play any you know where to get PSP ISO :).

However my real purpose is to see how hackable are the PSP modification . So i spend a less then 3 hours of googling and the result was superb. Right now my hackable PSP can do this:

  1. Emulate Snes/Genesis/GBA/Nintendo/PSX image to play with it
  2. Read PDF Files with Unicode support
  3. PSP PDA
  4. Read Microsoft PPT file.. (oops this is illegal neverless)
  5. It have a shell (omg it's called psp-shell )
  6. An IRDA remote control ( it works as a remote control for my mplayer)
  7. A packet sniffer (highly unrecommended , draining too much power)
  8. Alarm Clock. (heck i`m a heavy sleeper so i don`t know why i need it)
  9. AFKIM Instant massenger
  10. PSP SSH (man i love this tools an ssh client )
There's lot more cool hacks that can be made using this stuff. It`s wicked it`s cool. For just mere rm500 ringgit you have somewhat combination of ultimate emulator + pda .. I`m looking for possibility webcam hacking. If anyone knew where i can find about it do drop a comment :)
